Anyone who walked into Season 12 thinking last season's tier list would still hold up got a rude surprise pretty fast. The Lord of Hatred expansion changed the rhythm of the game, and the Paladin is the clearest reason why. After a bunch of Torment 4 farming sessions and more Pit runs than I'd like to admit, it's hard not to see the gap. If you're trying to purchase Diablo 4 Items to smooth out the early grind, it makes even more sense to start with what's actually dominating now instead of clinging to old habits. Paladin isn't just good on paper either. It feels easy, fast, and weirdly safe at the same time, which is usually a sign that something's overtuned.

Why Paladin is running the season
Wing Strikes is the build that really shows how far ahead the class is. You don't stop. That's the thing people notice first. You dash into packs, blow them up, move again, and somehow your resource cycle keeps itself together without much effort. It makes Helltides feel almost lazy. Then there's Shield of Retribution, which is a totally different flavour but just as strong. It's built for players who want to push deeper into the Pit without sweating every single mistake. You take hits, you stay upright, and your damage spikes when things get messy. That kind of trade is absurdly good right now, especially for anyone trying to break past the wall around Pit 80.

The classes still worth your time
That said, it's not like the rest of the roster fell apart. Spiritborn still has serious bite, and Quill Volley remains one of the smoothest screen-clear builds in the game. It's quick, clean, and doesn't ask for much mental effort once it gets rolling. Necromancer is in a better place than some players expected too. Affliction Necro levels at a ridiculous pace if you stack the right damage-over-time effects early, and minion setups are still perfect for those nights when you just want to switch off and farm without much fuss. These aren't second-rate choices at all. They just don't feel as unfair as Paladin does.

Where things start to feel rough
Sorcerer and Rogue can still put up huge numbers, but they ask for much more from the player. Chain Lightning Sorc is strong, sure, though it starts feeling awkward the second your gear falls behind. If your Crackling Energy generation isn't there, the whole build loses its flow. Rogue has a similar issue. Dance of Knives looks great and feels great when fully online, but getting there can be annoying. And Barbarian, honestly, has a hard time keeping up. There are workable setups, but compared with what the top classes are doing, it feels like more effort for less reward, which is never a good sign in a fresh season.

What actually matters in Season 12
A lot of players are still too focused on class rankings when the bigger difference often comes from stat breakpoints and how well you use Bloodstained Sigils. That's where the real progress shows up. A small attack speed bump, a tighter cooldown loop, a better item roll — those things decide whether a build feels stuck or suddenly clicks. Plenty of players use U4GM when they don't want to spend weeks chasing one missing piece, especially with how unreliable drops can be this season, and that kind of shortcut can make a genuine difference. Still, the best build is the one you'll actually keep playing, because if the moment-to-moment gameplay feels bad, no tier ranking is going to save it.
