I put a silly number of hours into PoE 2 early access, and I started out the same way a lot of people did: big physical melee, chase the heavy stun, live off that yellow stagger bar. It feels amazing at first. Then endgame bosses show up and the math changes. The stun thresholds jump, your "one good window" doesn't happen, and suddenly you're fighting while broke on charges. Once I stopped building my whole plan around stun and started gearing like someone who actually wants uptime (and even browsing POE 2 Items for sale to compare what was realistic), my runs got calmer and way more consistent.

Why Stun Falls Off
The problem isn't that stun is bad. It's that it's picky. You need to be in the boss's face, you need clean openings, and you need the damage profile that feeds stagger instead of just killing things. In maps that's fine because everything dies and you get your dopamine. On pinnacles, it turns into a little mini-game you can't always win. Miss once and you feel it: no charges, lower crit scaling, slower clears, and you're suddenly playing safe when your build was meant to be aggressive.

The Reliable Charge Engine
Power charges still do the heavy lifting for crit builds, so the real question is how you keep them on without doing gymnastics. After trying a bunch of tricks, the boring answer keeps winning: Power Charge on Critical Strike. If your skill is already built to crit—Spark, Storm Call, even anything that hits often—it just works. At around 50% crit you'll see charges come in steadily. Push it closer to 80% and it turns into near-permanent uptime, even when you're moving, dodging, and not getting "perfect" rotations.

Clear Speed Tricks That Feel Like Cheating
If you're more of a mapper, Badge of the Brotherhood is the kind of item that makes you laugh out loud the first time it clicks. Linking frenzy and power charges means you stop thinking about them separately. In dense T16–T17 maps, rares pop constantly, and your stacks snap back so fast it feels automatic. The catch is obvious: bosses with no adds won't feed it. So it's not a full solution, but for blasting content it's hard to beat.

Elemental Setups That Don't Need Melee Risk
The smoothest surprise for me has been Resonance paired with Combat Frenzy. Resonance turning frenzy into power charges sounds simple, but the feel is the point. Combat Frenzy doesn't ask you to bonk something with a physical hit; it just wants consistent ailments like shock or freeze. That means you can stay at range on a crossbow or caster setup, keep your flow, and still stack power charges like you're cheating the system. And if you're trying to get the gear to support these swaps without spending weeks farming, it's nice having the option to buy currency or specific upgrades through u4gm while you keep testing what actually fits your build.
