My GTI flashed the coolant warning light last week, I topped it up, and then it came back again yesterday which obviously means it's going somewhere it shouldn't. No visible puddles under the car and the temp gauge has been behaving normally so I'm stumped. I know these engines have a reputation for water pump and thermostat housing issues but I've also heard it could just be a sensor being dramatic. I've been putting off taking it in because I don't want to hand it to someone who'll replace everything blindly and charge me for the privilege.
